Established in 2012, Island Hoppin’ Brewery is the 1st and only microbrewery on Orcas Island.

LOCALLY SOURCED

Passionate about working with quality grains and local ingredients, we put intention into each and every batch of beer. In late summer, we drive our van to the local farms here in Washington where the hops grow and buy them freshly harvested right from the hands of the farmers.

We love to make beer that people love. From Seasonal Lagers to the Fresh Hopped Ales to the Barrel Aged Sours; we will have something for every beer drinker.

ARTISTICALLY BREWED

Started from a few carboys in our garage, we (Nate and Becca Schons) are the master brewer and mind behind IHB. With the help of our business partner at the time, Jim Parker, the 3 of us launched the very 1st brewhaus on Orcas Island in Washington State’s San Juan Islands.

Without losing touch with that original passion we upgraded to over 100bbl fermentation capacity. To this day, you can catch us hoisting grains in the back and passing it by mug to the customers in front.

COMMUNITY SUPPORTED

Through the span of technology and the increase of convenience, many of us have stepped away from the old fashioned art of sitting together with good friends and enjoying the day.

At IHB, we cater to our beloved local residents and provide a family friendly, dog-welcome environment where everyone is invited to sit down, have a drink and be together.
